Overview
The Senior Optimisation Engineer will be instrumental in the creation and implementation of a cutting-edge optimisation engine for a market-leading workforce scheduling platform. This role focuses on designing systems to tackle complex challenges in workforce scheduling and collaborating across teams to ensure scalable and efficient solutions. The engineer will work with advanced mathematical and programming techniques to produce high-quality, feasible scheduling in a fast-paced development environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement optimisation models for workforce scheduling and rostering.
- Evaluate and benchmark various approaches including CP-SAT, MIP, and constraint programming.
- Build systems that guarantee feasible schedules while improving schedule quality.
- Develop production-grade optimisation services and APIs.
- Translate business rules and labour regulations into configurable optimisation models.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and implementation teams to address scheduling challenges.
- Shape the long-term optimisation architecture of the product.
Requirements
- Proven experience in building and deploying optimisation systems.
- Strong foundation in operations research, optimisation, algorithms, or applied mathematics.
- Expertise with solver technologies such as OR-Tools, Gurobi, and CPLEX.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Experience with scheduling, rostering, or routing optimisation problems.
- Background in relevant fields like workforce scheduling or transport optimisation is preferred.
