Overview
We are seeking a Senior Optimisation Engineer to design and build a state-of-the-art optimisation engine for a leading workforce scheduling platform. This role involves tackling complex scheduling challenges by developing scalable optimisation systems from the ground up, and collaborates with various teams to enhance real-world scheduling solutions. The successful contractor will lead initiatives that improve schedule quality using advanced optimisation techniques and operational research principles.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement sophisticated optimisation models for workforce scheduling and rostering.
- Evaluate and benchmark various optimisation approaches, including CP-SAT, MIP, and constraint programming.
- Build production-grade optimisation services and APIs that ensure feasible schedules.
- Translate complex business rules and customer requirements into configurable optimisation models.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and implementation teams to address and solve real-world scheduling problems.
- Help shape the long-term architecture and technical direction of optimisation solutions.
Requirements
- Commercial experience in building and deploying optimisation systems.
- Strong background in operations research, optimisation, algorithms, or applied mathematics.
- Expertise with optimisation solver technologies such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or OR-Tools.
- Proficient in software engineering with experience in Python; familiarity with Java, Kotlin, C#, or C++ is a plus.
- Experience with combinatorial optimisation problems, particularly in workforce scheduling or transport optimisation.
- Ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into effective optimisation strategies.
