Overview

The Platform Engineer will support and enhance the EPOS and self-checkout platforms for a large retail estate over a six-month contract. Working in a hybrid model, the engineer will focus on delivering a secure, resilient, and scalable checkout infrastructure while improving automation and operational stability. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure the efficient functioning of the checkout systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build, manage, and support SCCM/MECM environments.
  • Create and troubleshoot OSD Task Sequences.
  • Deploy Windows 10/11 images, applications, patches, and drivers.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell automation solutions.
  • Migrate legacy VBScript solutions to PowerShell.
  • Support EPOS/SCO platforms across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Manage configuration, patching, and maintenance of platforms.
  • Provide 3rd Line support and conduct root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Strong SCCM/MECM administration experience.
  • Proven experience in building Task Sequences from scratch.
  • Expertise in Windows OSD deployment.
  • Experience in deploying driver packages and updates.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for Task Sequence failures and MSI installation errors.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
  • Experience with software packaging and release processes.
  • Strong familiarity with Windows administration, with retail or EPOS experience being desirable.
