Overview

We are looking for an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to lead the pre-construction phase of major EV charging infrastructure projects on a contract basis. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project readiness and effective delivery within a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will focus on complex electrical infrastructure schemes and contribute to reporting and project management efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for pre-construction enquiries and design coordination.
  • Develop, review, and maintain accurate pre-construction programmes.
  • Gather and validate site and technical data to enable accurate estimating and project mobilisation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external partners to ensure readiness for construction.
  • Establish and manage project communication systems and documentation control.
  • Maintain project status reports and monitoring tools.
  • Attend project meetings to understand scope, constraints, and delivery requirements.
  • Support the preparation of pre-energisation documentation and manage project reporting.

Requirements

  • Extensive project management experience within the electrical utilities sector.
  • Experience with HV/EHV infrastructure (33–132kV or above) including substations and grid connections.
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-million-pound infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle from feasibility through to energisation.
  • Experience in programme management and forecasting (P&L, progress vs target, budget tracking).
  • Project Management qualification (PRINCE2, APM, PMI or equivalent experience).
  • Competence in MS Project (or equivalent project management software).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
