Overview

The Principal Electrical Designer will play a critical role in providing design input and technical expertise for project work scopes in the energy sector, specifically focusing on modifications and new equipment procurement. This contract position will require collaboration with various teams, ensuring comprehensive documentation and compliance with safety standards in an energy asset management context.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design input for project work scopes and cost estimates.
  • Participate in progress and planning meetings, offering technical expertise.
  • Produce design deliverables for modifications and new equipment purchasing including electrical drives and switchgear.
  • Conduct site surveys on offshore or onshore assets as required.
  • Perform necessary calculations and engage in design reviews.
  • Check and approve discipline documents, ensuring interdisciplinary compliance.
  • Generate documentation deliverables for inclusion in work packs.
  • Ensure all design changes are integrated into the change control process.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Designer, particularly within the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Expertise in high and low voltage systems including switchgear and electrical drives.
  • Proficient in conducting power system studies and electrical protection design.
  • Strong knowledge of asset safety case requirements and PFEER performance standards.
  • Ability to perform site surveys and produce technical calculations.
  • Familiarity with document checking processes and technical design review protocols.
  • Experience with change control processes in engineering projects.
  • Ability to engage with Limited Companies as part of the contracting process.
