Overview

We are seeking a Principal Instrument Designer to contribute technical expertise and design input for project work scopes over a 12-month contract. The contractor will collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with engineering standards and client requirements while providing comprehensive design documentation. This role will involve working with various systems, conducting site surveys, and addressing technical queries to maintain safety and operational integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design input for project estimates and scope of work.
  • Contribute to progress and planning meetings.
  • Deliver technical expertise for modifications to existing and new equipment, including DCS, ESD F&G and metering systems.
  • Conduct site surveys on offshore and onshore assets.
  • Produce calculations and participate in design reviews.
  • Create and compile discipline documentation for work packs.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality policies.
  • Approve justified dispensations to codes or standards where applicable.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Principal Instrument Designer in the energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of field instrumentation including pressure, level, temperature, flow, and specialist measurements.
  • Experience with DCS, ESD F&G, and metering system modifications.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and communications.
  • Ability to produce detailed engineering documentation and diagrams.
  • Understanding of health, safety, environmental, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Capability to conduct technical reviews and site surveys.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software and tools.
