Overview
The Principal Instrument Engineer Contractor will provide essential engineering expertise for project estimates and modifications related to existing equipment and new purchases. This role involves collaboration with project teams, conducting site surveys, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards. The engineer will also deliver various technical documentation and support in achieving the asset safety case requirements throughout the duration of the contract, which is set for 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering input to project work scope estimates.
- Contribute to progress and planning meetings.
- Specify modifications for existing equipment and new procurement including DCS, ESD F&G, and metering systems.
- Conduct site surveys on offshore and onshore assets.
- Produce necessary calculations and participate in design reviews.
- Ensure compliance with safety cases and quality standards.
- Develop and review technical documentation and deliverables for work packs.
- Approve dispensations to applicable codes and standards where justified.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in instrumentation engineering, particularly in the energy sector.
- In-depth knowledge of DCS, ESD, F&G, and metering systems.
- Ability to conduct site surveys and technical assessments.
- Familiarity with engineering procedures, codes, and standards.
- Proficient in producing technical documentation and deliverables.
- Experience working within health, safety, and environmental frameworks.
- Understanding of SIL assessments and high integrity protection systems (HIPPS).
- Contractor status with a Limited Company is preferred, as the role is outside IR35.
