Overview
We are seeking a Principal Network Security Consultant to lead the design and implementation of secure network solutions within UK secure data centres. As a senior technical authority, you will collaborate with architects, engineers, and key stakeholders to ensure resilient and compliant network security outcomes for sensitive programmes. This role requires holding or maintaining security clearance for working in secure environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the security architecture and technical design of complex network solutions in secure data centres.
- Own end-to-end delivery including high-level design (HLD), low-level design (LLD), implementation approach, testing, and handover.
- Provide senior consultancy across network segmentation, firewall policy design, and secure routing.
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure compliance and security standards are met.
- Support incident response and problem management for network/security events as required.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation including HLD, LLD, and implementation plans.
- Mentor engineers and consultants, establishing technical direction and best practices for teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a senior/lead network security consultant in regulated/government environments.
- Strong background in data centre networking design and implementation.
- Deep hands-on firewall expertise with platforms such as Palo Alto or Fortinet.
- Experience in network segmentation and secure enclaves.
- Strong fundamentals in security principles like Zero Trust and secure admin practices.
- Familiarity with NAC approaches and secure access controls.
- Certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent are desirable.
