Overview
The Principal RF Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in the development of next-generation RF analysis and measurement platforms aimed at shaping the architecture of new wireless test systems. This hybrid position involves collaboration with a cross-disciplinary engineering team, combining hands-on technical leadership with innovative design in RF hardware, FPGA engineering, and signal processing.
Responsibilities
- Define RF and mixed-signal system architectures for new platforms.
- Design high-performance RF and digital hardware systems operating at GHz frequencies.
- Lead prototype bring-up, debugging, and system-level validation.
- Develop calibration and characterisation approaches for RF performance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the engineering team.
- Collaborate with engineers across RF, digital, software, and signal processing domains.
- Drive innovation in wireless test and measurement technology.
- Contribute to FPGA, DSP, firmware, or embedded software development as needed.
Requirements
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Strong background in RF electronics and wireless system design.
- Hands-on RF circuit design experience at 2.4GHz or 5GHz - 7GHz frequencies.
- Experience with lab equipment such as spectrum analysers and oscilloscopes.
- Proficient in debugging and characterising high-frequency PCB designs, preferably with Altium.
- Ability to write and execute scripts in Python for testing automation.
- Experience specifying and delivering complex RF systems.
- Familiarity with RF metrics such as noise figure, linearity, and dynamic range.
