Overview
The Principal Structural Designer will play a key role in providing technical expertise for the design of new infrastructure and modifications within the energy sector. This contractor position will focus on delivering high-quality structural designs, producing technical drawings, and providing oversight to ensure compliance with safety standards and engineering procedures. The role involves collaboration with various disciplines, clients, and third parties to address technical project issues, making it vital for effective project execution.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise for the structural design of new and modified infrastructure.
- Support estimates for project work scopes with technical information.
- Participate in progress and planning meetings as needed.
- Resolve technical queries and ensure design changes follow the change control process.
- Conduct site surveys on offshore and onshore assets.
- Produce structural design drawings and 3D models.
- Participate in design reviews and constructability reviews.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality policies.
Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant discipline-specific software including AutoCAD 2D & 3D, PDMS, and LFM Recap Pro Simulate.
- Ability to investigate and interpret data effectively.
- Willingness to travel offshore and conduct site surveys.
- Desirable experience with brownfield projects.
- Experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry is preferred, but other engineering industry experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to check and approve structural design documents.
