Overview
The Product Catalogue Architect / Taxonomy Consultant will spearhead the redesign of a complex product catalogue for a large B2C retailer. Collaborating with key stakeholders, this contract role involves rethinking the catalogue model from the ground up to optimize operations, address existing pain points, and implement significant structural changes while navigating legacy constraints.
Responsibilities
- Design the structure of the product catalogue, including hierarchies and attributes.
- Develop relationships between product elements such as inheritance and compatibility.
- Leverage the existing product hierarchy and vision to inform the redesign.
- Target high-frequency operations that require improvement to streamline product creation.
- Balance innovative design strategies with practical considerations of legacy systems.
- Manage the transition and migration of data with minimal disruption.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Taxonomy Consultant, Information Architect, or Global Product Data Specialist.
- Demonstrated success on large-scale commerce or content platforms.
- Strong knowledge of catalogue modeling including hierarchies, attributes, and pricing rules.
- Familiarity with catalogue-driven business support systems and commerce platforms.
- Experience with PIM and MDM tools such as Stibo Systems, Akeneo, or Salsify is preferred.
- Knowledge of Salesforce Industries/Vlocity Enterprise Product Catalog is beneficial.
