Overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer with a backend focus, proficient in Python and TypeScript, to join a product-driven engineering team responsible for developing commercial platforms in a highly regulated, data-intensive sector. This remote role will provide an opportunity to work on scaling billing, pricing, and settlements functionalities, while collaborating closely with product teams to design innovative solutions. You will have the autonomy to influence technical direction and tackle complex engineering challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design and own backend services in Python.
- Build scalable functionality for billing, pricing, and commercial platforms.
- Develop APIs and workflows that process high volumes of transactional data.
- Model complex business rules and financial calculations.
- Collaborate with product teams to design solutions based on first principles.
- Contribute across the tech stack where appropriate, including TypeScript.
- Enhance reliability, scalability, and engineering standards as the platform evolves.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Proficient in production-grade Python.
- Experience in building billing, settlement, pricing, or payments platforms.
- Background in the Energy sector, Utilities, Commodity Trading, or Financial Trading is a strong plus.
- Ability to work with data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Demonstrated product mindset with a high level of ownership.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in startup or scale-up environments is advantageous.
