Overview
We are seeking a Product Engineer with a backend focus to join a dynamic and experienced engineering team dedicated to enhancing billing, pricing, and commercial platforms within a highly regulated energy sector. This role will involve significant technical ownership and influence in building scalable high-volume transactional systems, addressing complex commercial logic and workflows, and developing APIs. As a remote position, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK while collaborating closely with product teams to design effective solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services primarily in Python.
- Build scalable functionalities for billing and pricing platforms.
- Develop APIs and workflows for processing large volumes of transactional data.
- Model and implement intricate business rules and financial calculations.
- Collaborate with product teams to create solutions from first principles.
- Contribute to other parts of the stack as needed, including TypeScript.
- Enhance reliability, scalability, and engineering standards across the platform.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on production-grade Python.
- Proven experience in building platforms related to billing, settlement, pricing, or payments.
- Experience in the Energy sector, Utilities, Commodity Trading or Financial Trading is highly desirable.
- Ability to work with data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Strong product mindset with a high level of ownership in projects.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in startup or scale-up environments is advantageous.
- Background in building platforms requiring transactional integrity and financial accuracy.
