Overview
We are seeking a skilled Product Engineer with a backend focus to join a dynamic, product-oriented engineering team in the energy and trading sector. This role involves leveraging your expertise in Python, TypeScript, and AWS to build advanced billing, pricing, and commercial systems. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of backend services while collaborating with product teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet complex business challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services in Python for commercial platforms.
- Build scalable billing and pricing functionalities utilizing modern API architecture.
- Develop APIs and workflows to handle high volumes of transactional data.
- Model complex business rules and financial calculations accurately.
- Collaborate with product teams to craft solutions from first principles.
- Contribute across the tech stack, including TypeScript, when necessary.
- Enhance reliability and scalability of the platform as it evolves.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on backend development.
- Proficiency in Python for developing production-grade applications.
- Experience in building billing, settlement, pricing, or payments platforms.
- Background in the energy, utilities, commodity trading, or financial trading sectors is preferred.
- Strong understanding of data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Demonstrated product mindset with a high level of ownership and accountability.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Previous experience in startup or scale-up environments is advantageous.
