Overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer with a backend focus to join a dynamic technology team responsible for developing software in the energy and trading sector. In this fully remote role, you will work closely with a small, skilled engineering team to design and build essential commercial platforms, particularly for billing, pricing, and high-volume transactional systems. You will leverage your expertise in Python, TypeScript, and AWS to address complex business challenges and contribute to building reliable, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services using Python.
- Build scalable functionality for billing and pricing platforms.
- Develop APIs and workflows to process large volumes of transactional data.
- Model complex business rules and perform financial calculations.
- Collaborate with product teams to design solutions from first principles.
- Contribute to the technology stack as appropriate, including TypeScript.
- Enhance the reliability and scalability of systems as the platform evolves.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in commercial software engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python for production-grade applications.
- Experience in building billing, settlement, or pricing platforms.
- Familiarity with the energy, utilities, or commodity trading sectors is highly desirable.
- Able to handle data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Strong product mindset with high ownership of technical decisions.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience in startup or scale-up environments is advantageous.
