Overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer with a backend focus to join a dynamic engineering team dedicated to enhancing a commercial platform within the energy trading industry. This role emphasizes the development of billing, pricing, and settlement functionalities, aiming to address complex transactional challenges and drive technical innovation. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to a high-impact project, leveraging their expertise in Python, TypeScript, and AWS, while collaborating closely with product managers to deliver effective solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and own backend services primarily using Python.
- Build scalable billing, pricing, and commercial platform functionalities.
- Develop APIs and workflows to handle high volumes of transactional data.
- Model complex business rules and financial calculations accurately.
- Collaborate with product teams to design solutions from first principles.
- Contribute to front-end functionalities as necessary, primarily using TypeScript.
- Improve system reliability, scalability, and engineering standards as the platform evolves.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in commercial software engineering.
- Strong expertise in production-grade Python.
- Experience in building billing, settlement, pricing, or payments platforms.
- Familiarity with the energy sector, utilities, commodity trading, or financial trading.
- Ability to work with data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Strong product mindset and high level of ownership.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in startup or scale-up environments is a plus.
