Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Product Manager for a contract role within a retail business undergoing a significant technology transformation. In this position, the contractor will collaborate closely with engineering teams to translate complex business challenges into actionable tasks, ensuring smooth delivery of high-quality solutions. The role demands active participation in backlog management and requires the ability to work directly with software engineers in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Business stakeholders to identify complex business problems.
- Break down large initiatives and epics into well-defined user stories and technical deliverables.
- Own and refine the product backlog to prioritize work effectively.
- Write detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for development teams.
- Engage with engineers daily to answer questions and remove blockers to maintain delivery pace.
- Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, and prioritization sessions.
- Work collaboratively with users and stakeholders to comprehend problems before developing solutions.
- Support delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives within a fast-paced retail environment.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Product Manager within Agile engineering teams.
- Proven track record of backlog ownership and prioritization.
- Experience in transforming broad business requirements into specific technical deliverables.
- Ability to write user stories and acceptance criteria while managing the delivery process through to release.
- Comfortable collaborating directly with software engineers on a daily basis.
- Skilled in gathering requirements from users and stakeholders to derive product features.
- Expertise in Azure DevOps, Jira, Notion, or similar project management tools.
- Background in retail, ecommerce, or omnichannel platforms is highly desirable.
