Overview
As a Programme Manager, the contractor will be responsible for managing and delivering multiple projects within the organization, focusing on both competitive and non-competitive bids. They will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, customers, partners, and suppliers in the defence industry, ensuring timely provision of project deliverables while maintaining budgetary control and effective risk management. This role requires expertise in various project methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile, as well as the ability to navigate complex programme environments.
Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver multiple projects, ensuring timely provision of deliverables.
- Maintain programme budgetary control and effective risk management.
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams in collaboration with customer colleagues.
- Plan and execute projects using Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Deliver projects within allocated time, budget, and quality requirements.
- Drive successful delivery of complex engineering projects in the Tactical Communications domain.
- Proactively manage risks, subcontractors, and finances.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing complex, multidisciplinary projects in the defence or communications sectors.
- Strong understanding of project governance, planning, and control techniques.
- Familiarity with tactical communication systems design, development, deployment, and operation.
- Experience with change management and programme-level frameworks such as MSP and P3M.
- Comfortable working across both Agile and traditional delivery environments.
- Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Professional certification in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, APM PMQ, SAFe Agilist) is advantageous.
