Overview
The Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting a major telecoms project across Scotland, primarily focusing on the installation and commissioning of network infrastructure. This contract position offers the opportunity to work remotely with occasional travel for site support, collaborating closely with project managers and technical teams to ensure timely and quality project execution. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in IP networking, routing, and Nokia technologies to enhance project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of telecoms and network projects across various locations in Scotland, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Create, update, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including network diagrams, site surveys, and project reports.
- Conduct site surveys to assess existing infrastructure and prepare for installation activities.
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of networking equipment and systems at client sites.
- Support troubleshooting efforts by diagnosing technical faults and providing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Participate in customer meetings to discuss project progress, technical issues, and solutions.
- Prepare and review health and safety documentation such as RAMS and POWRA, ensuring compliance with safety standards during all project phases.
- Collaborate with project teams and clients to ensure smooth project execution from planning through implementation and handover.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Engineer or similar role within telecoms and networking environments.
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in IP networking, routing, switching, and data communications.
- CCNA or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- Experience with WAN, LAN, MPLS, and VPN technologies.
- Practical knowledge of Nokia SAR-H and Nokia NFM-P platforms.
- Familiarity with XTran technology and configuration of routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Proficiency in creating detailed network diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
- Valid UK driving license with the ability to travel across Scotland as required.
