Overview
The Project Support Officer will play a crucial role in supporting a public sector organisation's project management efforts, primarily focusing on financial reporting and governance within the lab environment. Working collaboratively with lab leads and the finance team, the officer will ensure accurate tracking of project progress and facilitate effective communication across stakeholders, all while promoting adherence to internal governance frameworks. The role will require a blend of financial acumen, communication skills, and the ability to manage various project-related events and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Manage and administer finance processes within the lab, ensuring accuracy and consistency of data.
- Track delivery progress and draft comprehensive reports for various stakeholders.
- Support lab leads in preparing materials for Executive Actions Boards and progress action items.
- Maintain the lab RAID log and facilitate effective risk management workshops.
- Serve as a coaching point for the internal governance framework within the lab.
- Organise and facilitate project events, including audits and stakeholder meetings.
- Prepare and present necessary documentation for internal and external audits.
- Assist in onboarding new team members and ensuring compliance with relevant policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in project-level financial reporting and event organisation.
- Strong understanding of governance frameworks and ability to embed them within teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration.
- Ability to adapt and manage competing deadlines effectively.
- Experience with reporting tools and familiarity with Azure DevOps, Jira, or Confluence.
- Strong analytical skills to present complex data in an understandable format.
- Capability to support and coach team members on governance and reporting processes.
- Proficiency in minute-taking and documentation management for meetings.
