Overview
The RHEL AWS Platform Engineer will collaborate with IT Infrastructure and Cyber teams to build, maintain, and optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS. This role focuses on establishing RHEL 8/9 environments, enhancing security, and implementing automation processes, while also fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team. The contractor is expected to start as soon as possible and work in a hybrid capacity.
Responsibilities
- Build and standardise RHEL 8/9 environments across AWS.
- Implement OS hardening and security baselines aligned with CIS/STIG.
- Develop automation solutions using Ansible and AWS SSM for configuration and patching.
- Design and implement monitoring and logging integration with CloudWatch.
- Optimize storage and performance of cloud infrastructure.
- Establish a repeatable and scalable operating model for Linux workloads.
- Support knowledge transfer and upskilling within the Service Delivery team.
Requirements
- Proven experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8/9) in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of Linux system administration and OS hardening best practices.
- Experience operating RHEL and Windows workloads in AWS, including automation tasks using Systems Manager.
- Knowledge of patch and package management with yum/dnf and automation tools.
- Experience in monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting Linux systems in production.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and Active Directory integration (SSSD/LDAP).
- Desired qualifications include experience with Terraform, CI/CD practices, and container platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.
