Overview

The Release & Instance Manager will lead release delivery and environment governance for a major consultancy within a complex IT environment. Working remotely, you will collaborate with multiple technical teams to ensure effective release planning, testing, approval, and deployment throughout various stages from development to production. This role is crucial for maintaining the stability and security of the ServiceNow instances while driving improvements in release processes and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end release process across production and non-production environments.
  • Define release cycles, governance checkpoints, submission deadlines and deployment windows.
  • Maintain release calendars aligned with business priorities and change schedules.
  • Coordinate complex releases involving multiple technical teams, platforms and dependencies.
  • Chair release planning, readiness and go/no-go meetings.
  • Ensure releases have received all required testing, security, architecture and business approvals.
  • Confirm appropriate implementation, validation, rollback and recovery plans are in place.
  • Identify and mitigate release risks, conflicts, environment constraints and cross-project dependencies.

Requirements

  • Proven Release, Environment or Instance Management experience within a large enterprise IT organisation.
  • Experience coordinating complex infrastructure or platform releases across multiple teams.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL Change, Release and Configuration Management.
  • ServiceNow Change and Release Management experience.
  • Experience within regulated or highly governed enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Strong planning, risk management and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and influence technical teams without direct authority.
