Overview

The SCADA Engineer will play a critical role in the commissioning of HV substation and offshore wind farm SCADA systems, working closely with both onshore and offshore teams. The contractor will support hardware and software interfaces throughout the project, ensuring that commissioning processes adhere to specifications and documentation standards. Daily interactions with engineering and quality departments will be essential to address any outstanding issues, while proactive troubleshooting and client coordination will help maintain project integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide client witness and support for the delivery of HV/Substation and WTG SCADA systems during construction and commissioning.
  • Conduct acceptance tests, ensuring they meet specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Support investigations and report on HV network events during the commissioning phase.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on design-related issues and provide technical support to the commissioning team.
  • Maintain commissioning records and ensure accurate reporting to the Commissioning Package Manager.
  • Oversee the installation and setup of various communication systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  • Troubleshoot systems in the event of failures and coordinate with relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Degree or HNC in a relevant technical or engineering field.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH Certification is required.
  • GWO certifications for working at heights, enhanced first aid, sea survival, fire awareness, and manual handling are necessary.
  • Experience in HV/WTG/Auxiliary SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems, including PLCs, RTUs, and IEDs.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as IEC-61850, Modbus, and Profibus.
  • Proven experience in a client-facing role within similar environments.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
