Overview
We are looking for a talented Scala Developer to participate in a significant digital transformation program for a central government initiative. The role entails designing and maintaining Scala applications using the Play Framework, collaborating closely with UX/UI designers and back-end teams, and ensuring compliance with security and GDS standards. The successful candidate will be expected to work in an Agile environment and contribute to continuous integration and deployment processes.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable Scala applications using the Play Framework.
- Build RESTful APIs and web services.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers and back-end teams.
- Write clean and testable code following best practices.
- Ensure compliance with GDS and security standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups and sprint planning.
- Support continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience in Scala development.
- Hands-on experience with the Play Framework.
- Solid understanding of functional programming principles.
- Experience working with REST APIs and JSON.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
- Experience in an Agile/Scrum delivery environment.
- Understanding of TDD/BDD and automated testing frameworks.
- Experience on public sector or government projects is highly beneficial.
