Overview
The Senior Acoustic Engineer will play a pivotal role in a major defence project, applying their expertise in noise, vibration, and acoustic signatures to enhance submarine system designs and performance. As part of a collaborative and innovative engineering team, the contractor will be responsible for conducting underwater acoustic testing and utilizing Matlab/Simulink for modelling. Responsibilities
- Provide specialist advice on submarine noise, vibration, and acoustic signatures performance.
- Conduct analytical and numerical modelling of acoustic and vibration phenomena.
- Carry out on-site data collection, testing, analysis, and reporting.
- Produce and review engineering documentation, including specifications and test procedures.
- Investigate and resolve vibration issues in in-service submarines.
- Support updates and upgrades across the submarine fleet.
- Provide expert engineering authority across internal teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline.
- Hands-on experience with Matlab/Simulink modelling and simulation.
- Experience with instrumentation specification, setup, and data acquisition.
- Proven experience in development testing in underwater environments.
- Background in acoustic or sonar systems engineering is advantageous.
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
- Proficiency with standard office and analysis software.
- Ability to obtain security clearance, potentially up to DV level.
