Overview
As a Senior Backend TypeScript Engineer, you will lead the architecture and development of a greenfield SaaS platform, focusing on high-performance distributed systems. This remote position emphasizes backend engineering and AWS serverless delivery, and you will have the opportunity to work with advanced AI-assisted development tools. You will collaborate closely with the engineering leadership team while shaping the technical direction of the product.
Responsibilities
- Architect, build and ship complex, high-performance distributed services using TypeScript and Node.js on AWS Lambda.
- Design and implement resilient event-driven systems utilizing SQS and associated AWS messaging services.
- Own features end-to-end, including product thinking, scoping, trade-offs, sequencing, and delivery.
- Create clean, well-versioned, and well-documented APIs that enhance the developer experience.
- Champion a strong engineering culture through rigorous testing, peer reviews, and CI/CD practices.
- Develop hands-on skills with Claude Code for AI-assisted development and productivity enhancement.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in backend engineering with a focus on TypeScript and Node.js, particularly in architecting distributed REST microservices.
- Strong background in AWS serverless technologies, with hands-on experience in Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, and related services.
- Deep understanding of data management with Aurora MySQL and DynamoDB, including schema design and query optimization.
- Experience in designing event-driven systems and familiarity with concepts like idempotency and operational resilience.
- Excellent API design skills, emphasizing documentation, versioning, and developer experience.
- Ability to take a product from concept to launch with a product-first mindset.
- Strong communication skills and confidence in direct client interactions.
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like CDK or Terraform.
