Overview
The Senior Data & MIS Consultant will work closely with senior leadership to conduct a strategic review of the data and Management Information Systems (MIS) landscape within the Further Education sector. This fully remote role focuses on assessing current capabilities and developing a comprehensive roadmap aimed at enhancing data governance, systems, and compliance to drive informed decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead a comprehensive review of the MIS and data ecosystems, including systems and architecture.
- Assess data quality, governance frameworks, and ownership structures with an emphasis on Master Data Management.
- Evaluate the utilization of Microsoft data platforms and tools such as Azure and Power BI.
- Examine how data informs funding, compliance, and performance reporting requirements.
- Identify areas for improvement across processes, people, technology, and operating models.
- Develop clear recommendations and an actionable investment roadmap based on findings.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops to gather requirements and insights.
- Define data governance roles and establish minimum viable policies.
Requirements
- Proven track record in delivering enterprise data strategies or MIS assessments in complex environments.
- Strong expertise in data architecture, governance, and Master Data Management.
- Advanced proficiency in utilizing Microsoft data platforms including Azure and Power BI.
- In-depth knowledge of FE/HE funding, ILR requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to convert technical concepts into actionable business outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging senior leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in report writing and developing strategic roadmaps.
- Relevant educational background in Data, Computer Science, or related fields, with certifications in data management preferred.
