Overview
The Senior Data Architect will play a pivotal role in leading technical strategies for significant data migration projects from legacy systems to modern cloud platforms. Working primarily in a consultancy capacity within high-profile public-sector initiatives, the contractor will engage with senior stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment with organizational goals. The position offers the opportunity to influence the architectural direction of large-scale migrations, focusing on innovative cloud-native solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement architectures across diverse cloud-native stacks.
- Lead technical strategy for migrating systems from on-premises environments to modern cloud architectures.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and Development teams to deliver complex migration projects.
- Communicate architectural concepts clearly to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
- Identify and implement technical solutions that address specific business challenges.
- Optimize costs through strategic data usage in Lakehouse architectures.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, legal requirements, and security standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a consultancy or within enterprise businesses in the public sector.
- Strong background in designing and evolving data solutions to meet long-term strategic goals.
- Deep understanding of Data Lakes, Data Mesh, Data Fabric, and Modern Data Warehousing.
- Ability to explain complex architectural concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including C-suite.
- Experience delivering migrations to cloud platforms such as AWS, Redshift Spectrum, S3, and Glue.
- Comprehensive knowledge of data governance and security standards.
- Familiarity with containerization and digital services.
