Overview
The Senior Data Engineer will be a crucial member of a data transformation programme within a leading retail organization, focusing on modernizing retail planning and reporting capabilities. This hands-on role involves designing and implementing data pipelines and models on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), enabling improved reporting and business decision-making. The contractor will collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure scalable data solutions that enhance operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain robust data pipelines within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Develop and optimise data models in BigQuery.
- Design and maintain Dataform pipelines across raw, staging, and curated data layers.
- Integrate multiple data sources including POS, inventory, and forecasting data.
- Create scalable semantic models for consumption within Looker.
- Implement business logic for reporting and forecasting requirements.
- Ensure data quality, reconciliation, and performance across the reporting platform.
- Collaborate with BI and business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into effective data solutions.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with BigQuery.
- Excellent SQL and data modelling skills.
- Experience building data pipelines within GCP.
- Hands-on experience with Dataform.
- Experience developing data models for reporting and analytics.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing best practices.
- Experience with Looker and semantic modelling is a plus.
- Background in retail, FMCG, or supply chain data is advantageous.
