Overview
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a newly formed Data Exchange squad within a consumer technology business. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with an experienced Lead Data Engineer and engage with various external partners to design and deliver data services that enhance the company's partner data ecosystem. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in greenfield projects and enjoy tackling platform-level challenges while helping shape the future of the team.
Responsibilities
- Build data ingestion and exchange services.
- Develop repeatable integration patterns for external partners.
- Support the onboarding of partners with varying technical capabilities.
- Improve the speed and consistency of new data integrations.
- Contribute to secure data-sharing capabilities.
- Explore data clean rooms and cross-organisation data collaboration.
- Contribute to technical design and architecture decisions.
- Help establish engineering standards for the new squad.
Requirements
- Strong commercial data engineering experience.
- Experience building data ingestion, integration, or exchange services.
- Good understanding of modern cloud data platforms.
- Comfortable working with external systems and inconsistent data structures.
- Strong software engineering and systems-design fundamentals.
- Able to contribute within a small, hands-on engineering team.
- Comfortable operating in an evolving or greenfield environment.
- Experience with Databricks is beneficial but not mandatory.
