Overview
The Senior Data Engineer will play a crucial role in shaping the data platform of a rapidly modernizing SaaS company, reporting to the Head of Data. This hands-on position focuses on developing a cloud-native data ecosystem that supports advanced analytics and decision-making. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in AWS technologies and data architecture to drive significant improvements across the data lifecycle, working in collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency and data governance.
Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver a cloud-native data platform across ingestion, modelling, warehousing and BI.
- Lead adoption of DBT, ELT patterns, AWS DMS, Redshift, and Athena.
- Build high-quality data models and establish standards for testing, documentation, and governance.
- Shape BI strategy and ensure consistent, trusted metrics across the business.
- Mentor engineers and collaborate with Principal Engineers, Product, and Analytics teams.
- Evolve the AWS-native platform including Redshift, Athena, and S3 lake patterns.
- Modernize DataOps through CI/CD for dbt and infrastructure, with automated testing.
- Build high-reliability ingestion pipelines with strong SLAs and schema-change resilience.
Requirements
- Deep experience with the modern AWS data stack.
- Proven ability to design and scale cloud-native data platforms.
- Mastery of data modelling and BI tooling, particularly ELT and warehouse architecture.
