Overview
We are seeking a Senior Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA) Engineer with substantial experience in the UK water sector to deliver design and technical expertise on various water infrastructure projects. The contractor will produce detailed EICA designs, manage technical documentation, and support commissioning activities, while collaborating with project teams during site visits as necessary. This long-term contract role offers flexibility with remote work, punctuated by required visits to project sites throughout the UK.
Responsibilities
- Produce outline and detailed electrical, instrumentation, and control designs for water treatment projects.
- Develop cost-effective designs ensuring compliance with specifications and installation requirements.
- Prepare technical bid assessments and review supplier quotations for EICA equipment.
- Ensure designs meet relevant specifications, UK legislation, and industry standards.
- Conduct site surveys to inform design decisions and validate assumptions.
- Review sub-contractor designs for compliance with specifications and standards.
- Provide construction and commissioning support on site as required.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and design records throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering; Apprenticeships may be considered if supported by extensive professional experience.
- Significant experience (10+ years) in the UK water treatment sector or similar infrastructure environments.
- In-depth knowledge of water treatment facility design and UK water industry standards (WIMES).
- Familiarity with electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for water treatment.
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements related to ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, and EMC.
- Proven ability to deliver cost-effective designs while meeting client specifications and safety standards.
- Strong communication skills for effective engagement with stakeholders and teams.
