Overview
The Senior Estimator will be instrumental in preparing competitive tenders for significant civil engineering and infrastructure projects, typically valued between £20m and £150m. Collaborating closely with commercial, operational, and technical teams, the estimator will develop effective pricing strategies to ensure successful bid outcomes. This role offers long-term, site-based employment, focusing on large-scale projects within a reputable civil engineering contractor.
Responsibilities
- Lead tender pricing for major civil engineering and infrastructure schemes.
- Review technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and tender information.
- Develop detailed cost plans, pricing strategies, and value engineering solutions.
- Manage the full supply chain enquiry and pricing process.
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial and technical risks.
- Prepare tender adjudication reports and contribute to bid presentations.
- Support the transition from pre-construction through to project delivery, ensuring a smooth handover.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator in civil engineering.
- Strong experience pricing medium to large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Solid understanding of UK construction contracts and procurement routes.
- Excellent commercial awareness and analytical capability.
- Ability to lead tenders and coordinate multidisciplinary bid teams.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
- Desirable experience across highways, rail, utilities, aviation, or major infrastructure sectors.
