Overview
The Senior Estimator will oversee the preparation and submission of competitive tenders for large-scale civil engineering and infrastructure projects, working in collaboration with various commercial, operational, and technical teams. This role is long-term and site-based, providing the opportunity to engage with major projects ranging from £20 million to £150 million+. The contractor will play a crucial role in developing pricing strategies and ensuring successful tender submissions, contributing to the growth of the organization's pre-construction capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead tender pricing for major civil engineering and infrastructure schemes.
- Review technical documentation including drawings, specifications, and tender information.
- Develop detailed cost plans, pricing strategies, and value engineering solutions.
- Manage the full supply chain enquiry and pricing process.
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial and technical risks.
- Prepare tender adjudication reports and contribute to bid presentations.
- Support the transition from pre-construction through to project delivery, ensuring a smooth handover.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within civil engineering.
- Strong experience pricing medium to large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Solid understanding of UK construction contracts and procurement routes.
- Excellent commercial awareness and analytical capability.
- Ability to lead tenders and coordinate multidisciplinary bid teams.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
