Overview
We are seeking a Senior Interaction Designer to join our innovative technology consultancy on an exciting public sector project. This position will involve collaborating with a multi-disciplined team to create effective user flows and interaction models that enhance user experience. The role is remote-first with only one required on-site day per month, and offers a contract term with high potential for extension.
Responsibilities
- Design clear, logical user flows and task sequences across a public sector digital service.
- Define interaction patterns and system behaviours, including states and error handling.
- Create and iterate on wireframes and interactive prototypes for user testing.
- Apply and contribute to interaction patterns within relevant design systems, including the GOV.UK Design System.
- Translate research findings into flow diagrams and interaction models.
- Work closely with user researchers to test flows and refine designs based on evidence.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure accurate implementation of interaction logic.
- Present and defend interaction design decisions to clients and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong experience as a Senior Interaction Designer, preferably in public sector or government services.
- Solid understanding of GDS service standards and design principles.
- Proficiency in tools such as Figma for wireframing and prototyping.
- In-depth knowledge of interaction design principles, task flows, and usability heuristics.
- Experience designing responsive interaction patterns in component-based design systems.
- Ability to translate user insights into flow and interaction changes.
- Comfortable presenting design rationale to senior stakeholders and clients.
- A strong portfolio showcasing interaction design process and outcomes.
