Overview
The Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Contract) will play a crucial role in advancing the capabilities of a dynamic healthcare AI business by taking machine learning models through the entire lifecycle—from research and prototyping to production deployment and monitoring. This position requires a blend of machine learning expertise and strong software engineering skills, with collaborative efforts alongside product and engineering teams to develop impactful solutions for healthcare challenges.
Responsibilities
- Research, prototype, and productionise machine learning models.
- Own the full ML lifecycle, including training, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
- Design and build scalable backend services and APIs.
- Work with large, complex datasets to build secure, reliable systems.
- Contribute to ML strategy, architecture, and key technical decisions.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to deliver impactful solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial software development experience.
- Proven experience in deploying ML models into production.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Extensive backend engineering experience, particularly with APIs.
- Experience with databases, data modelling, and system design.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services and architectures.
- Solid grounding in software engineering and computer science fundamentals.
- Familiarity with reinforcement learning and containerization technologies like Docker, ECS, Kubernetes, or Terraform is a plus.
