Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Company Our client in the Space sector are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a 12 month contract which is likely to extend (the role will sit outside of IR35). About the Role This is a hybrid position, which will need you on-site for at least one week per month, ideally two or more. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the design, analysis, and testing of next-generation nano-satellites. You’ll work hands-on in a fast-paced environment alongside electrical, software, and manufacturing teams. Responsibilities Design spacecraft components, mechanisms, and assemblies using SolidWorks. Perform structural, thermal, and thermoelastic analyses (FEA). Develop test fixtures and ground support equipment. Support satellite assembly, environmental testing, and manufacturing. Conduct peer reviews, documentation, and production support. Required Skills Excellent CAD and drafting skills (SolidWorks). Familiarity with FEA tools (Ansys, SolidWorks Simulation).
