Overview
The Senior Power BI Developer will work collaboratively with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to deliver high-quality reporting and analytics solutions, particularly focusing on Finance and Retail data. This role invites an experienced contractor to engage in the full Power BI lifecycle, from data modeling and DAX development to stakeholder engagement and creating production-ready dashboards, while requiring only one day per week onsite in London.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Build robust semantic models using Star Schema principles.
- Develop advanced DAX measures and Power Query transformations.
- Optimize report performance, datasets, and refresh processes.
- Integrate data from SQL Server, Azure, Databricks, APIs, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Manage Power BI Service, gateways, deployments, and Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to determine metric calculations within Power BI or upstream in the ETL platform.
- Support governance, documentation, and reporting best practices.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Power BI Desktop & Service.
- Advanced DAX, Power Query (M), and SQL skills.
- Strong data modeling expertise using Star Schema.
- Experience delivering performant enterprise reporting solutions.
- Solid understanding of ETL and data warehousing concepts.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience with developing dashboards focused on Finance & Retail data.
- Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure DevOps/Git/CI/CD, and holding a PL-300 certification.
