Overview
The role of Senior Product Manager is key to driving a significant digital transformation initiative within the public sector. Working remotely with occasional on-site collaboration in Liverpool, the contractor will oversee multiple product teams while partnering closely with various stakeholders, including consultants and technologists, to develop and implement user-centered digital services.
Responsibilities
- Create a clear product strategy and translate it into an actionable roadmap.
- Provide product oversight and leadership across a large transformation programme with multiple product teams.
- Manage delivery across Agile, Waterfall or hybrid approaches based on client needs.
- Run delivery ceremonies and keep teams focused on high-priority issues.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders and operational service teams.
- Collaborate with consultants, analysts, technologists, and third-party suppliers to meet user needs.
- Approve user stories, sprint plans, and deliverables against a clear definition of done.
- Coach and mentor team members while championing best-practice product management.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Product Manager, particularly in public sector digital and consultancy settings.
- Strong understanding of GDS-aligned delivery and large-scale transformation programmes.
- Experience managing multiple teams and overseeing complex product initiatives.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and building trusted client relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to embed user-centred thinking into delivery processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to coach and raise the standard of product practice within teams.
