Overview
The Senior Project Manager will lead a significant transformation programme to modernise a 17-year-old monolithic application while ensuring compliance with data residency requirements. Collaborating with engineering, data, and product teams, the contractor will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of migration strategies, and serve as a liaison between stakeholders to manage communication and reporting. The role will focus on transitioning to a modular architecture and redesigning the data tier to meet the evolving needs of enterprise clients, particularly regarding data sovereignty.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end planning and delivery of the monolithic application modernisation initiative.
- Build and maintain programme roadmaps, resource plans, and budget oversight.
- Shape delivery methodology suitable for a Legacy-heavy environment.
- Collaborate with engineering and data teams to define migration strategies.
- Ensure the programme aligns with AWS best practices for multi-region deployments.
- Act as the primary communication bridge between stakeholders.
- Prepare and present executive-level updates and risk reports.
- Anticipate and mitigate risks associated with modernisation.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in project/programme management with at least 3 major Legacy modernisation or cloud transformation programmes delivered.
- Strong understanding of monolithic architectures and their modernisation challenges.
- Experience with AWS, particularly in multi-region and data-sovereignty environments.
- Proven delivery of programmes involving large relational databases such as MySQL/Percona.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex engineering problems to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with data protection regulations like GDPR and CCPA.
- Experience leading teams in Agile and hybrid environments.
- Certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner or higher, PMP/Prince2, or Scrum Master are preferred.
