Senior Python Engineer

Overview

The Senior Python Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing high-performance systems for a next-generation Pricing & Risk platform within a global commodities trading firm. This hands-on engineering position focuses on building scalable, cloud-native applications using Python and AWS to enhance the pricing and risk capabilities that directly support trading operations. The candidate will have the opportunity to influence the architecture and direction of the platform as it transitions towards real-time and intraday risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-performance systems for pricing, curve construction, and VaR across Oil, Gas, and Power markets.
• Build scalable, cloud-native applications using Python and AWS.
• Collaborate with trading and risk teams to deliver technology solutions that support business needs.
• Influence the architecture and direction of the Pricing & Risk platform.
• Ensure high-quality production standards in software development.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in Python engineering.
• Commercial experience within the Oil, Gas, or Power trading sectors.
• Strong understanding of pricing, risk assessment, and curve construction.
• Experience building production-level platforms in a similar engineering role.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, particularly AWS.
