Overview
We are looking for a Senior SCADA Engineer to drive the modernisation and optimisation of operational technology within a major energy and utilities programme. This role involves collaboration with engineering and technology teams to enhance SCADA architecture and integrate various management systems, ultimately supporting electricity distribution, transmission, and renewable energy initiatives. As a key player on this project, the contractor will provide technical leadership in developing solutions for a smarter, more resilient grid environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop enterprise-scale SCADA architectures and solutions.
- Lead the integration of SCADA with ADMS, EMS, and DERMS environments.
- Deliver real-time telemetry, monitoring, and control capabilities across operational networks.
- Support Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and Network Management Systems (NMS) initiatives.
- Define and implement OT communications strategies, including RTU and substation integrations.
- Collaborate with various teams to enhance network visibility and resilience.
- Support smart grid and renewable integration initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a SCADA Architect, Lead SCADA Engineer, or Senior SCADA Engineer.
- Strong background within energy, utilities, or electricity transmission/distribution.
- Hands-on experience with ADMS, EMS, or DERMS platforms.
- Solid understanding of Distribution Management Systems (DMS).
- Experience in delivering telemetry and remote monitoring solutions.
- Familiarity with IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, and OPC protocols.
- Knowledge of network control centre operations and smart grid technologies.
- Desirable: Experience with renewable energy integration and battery energy storage systems.
