Overview
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team as an AI Backend Engineer, where you will play a vital role in integrating Agentic AI into our software development practices. You will work closely with the Principal Engineer and Principal Architect to build backend services, establish AI-enhanced workflows, and coach other engineers on best practices, enhancing the team's delivery capabilities and overall productivity. This position is a hands-on role in a hybrid working environment, requiring a commitment to excellence in C# and .NET software engineering.
Responsibilities
- Build scalable backend applications and REST APIs using C# and .NET.
- Champion the adoption of Agentic AI within the engineering function.
- Coach engineers on best-practice AI-assisted software development.
- Establish effective prompting strategies and reusable AI workflows.
- Define and maintain project context through comprehensive documentation.
- Configure and optimise AI agents to enhance software delivery and productivity.
- Conduct AI pairing sessions, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing workshops.
- Review and validate AI-generated code to ensure quality and security.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience in backend development with C# and .NET.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or OpenAI platforms.
- Proven track record in championing AI-assisted software engineering practices.
- Solid understanding of Agentic AI concepts and AI engineering workflows.
- Ability to create and maintain project context documentation.
- Passion for mentoring and enabling engineering teams in AI tooling.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and software architecture best practices.
