Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Java, C, C++, and Linux to engage in a critical project stream focused on updating and maintaining a robust enterprise platform. This role will involve collaborating with multi-language components and requires strong skills in debugging and code refactoring within a Linux environment. The contractor will work with a team to ensure high-quality software deliverables meet established release timelines.
Responsibilities
- Execute defined maintenance packages and compatibility upgrades across Java and C/C++ services.
- Perform root-cause analysis and resolve complex defects within a large-scale, multi-language system.
- Maintain and enhance build automation, release packaging, and deployment scripts.
- Implement targeted updates to Linux native applications, network protocols, and persistence layers.
- Work alongside wider technical teams to ensure reliable, high-performing software updates that hit key release targets.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on background in Java (including Java 8 environments) and C/C++.
- Deep Linux-based development, environment configuration, and native debugging expertise.
- Proven track record of safely refactoring, maintaining, and improving mature enterprise codebases.
- Familiarity with native build automation tools (GNU Make, Autotools, Ant) and classic VCS (SVN/Git).
- PostgreSQL experience along with familiarity with web technologies (Apache, PHP, JavaScript, or Python).
- Solid background in distributed, networked application architectures.
