Overview

Senior Backend / Full Stack Engineer (Contract) – API Team | Outside IR35/B2B - Remote Evantis is working with a fast-moving tech company that’s building out a new API engineering team to power the next generation of partner and customer integrations. We’re looking for multiple engineers with strong backend experience in Node.js/ TypeScript and the ability to design, build, and deliver APIs that will serve as the foundation for future product expansion. What you’ll be doing Designing and developing robust APIs and microservices in Node.js / TypeScript. Building plug-and-play integrations and widgets that make it easier for external partners to connect quickly. Improving the API layer — authentication, documentation, and developer experience. Working closely with internal product and engineering teams to deliver scalable, well-tested solutions. Experimenting with new technologies, including AI-driven features and integrations (ACP/AP2). Operating in a startup-style environment, where priorities evolve week to week, and delivery speed and quality both matter. What we’re looking for Strong background in backend engineering, ideally 7+ years’ experience. Expert in Node.js, TypeScript, REST / GraphQL APIs, and related tooling. Comfortable working across cloud environments (AWS preferred) and CI/CD pipelines. Experience building integrations, SDKs, or lightweight plugins (WordPress, Shopify, etc.) is a plus. Autonomous, delivery-focused, and confident in taking ownership from idea to deployment. Curious about or experienced with AI-assisted development tools like Copilot or ChatGPT. Responsibilities

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in backend engineering.
• Expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS, and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with building integrations, SDKs, or plugins such as for WordPress or Shopify.
• Self-motivated and delivery-oriented with ownership from idea to deployment.
• Interest or experience in AI-assisted development tools like Copilot or ChatGPT.
