Overview
The Contract Senior Software Engineer will play a critical role in a technology transformation project for a Commodities Trading company, focusing on developing and integrating cloud-native microservices. Collaborating closely with various engineering teams, the contractor will help build a scalable data hub and implement modern event-driven architectures within an Azure environment while ensuring high performance and reliability in trading systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deploy cloud-native .NET microservices within an Azure environment.
- Build event-driven integrations using Azure Event Hubs, Azure Service Bus and real-time messaging patterns.
- Develop scalable APIs, data processing services and integration components supporting critical trading and risk systems.
- Work with Azure Kubernetes Service and Docker to deploy, manage and optimise containerised applications.
- Contribute to solution architecture, ensuring highly scalable, resilient and maintainable microservice-based solutions.
- Implement modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and deployment automation using Azure DevOps.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Infrastructure and Engineering teams to deliver secure, high-performance cloud solutions.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience developing enterprise applications using .NET/C#.
- Proven experience building event-driven architectures using Event Hubs, Service Bus or Kafka.
- Strong experience designing and developing microservices, REST APIs and distributed systems (gRPC desirable).
- Experience building cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, including Azure Kubernetes Service and Docker.
- Experience working with Cosmos DB, SQL Server or other NoSQL/relational database technologies.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous messaging, event streaming and integration patterns.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Excellent debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimisation skills within distributed systems.
