Overview
We are seeking a Senior VMware Infrastructure Architect to join a major UK retailer undergoing a significant infrastructure transformation. This role involves leading the design and implementation of a critical VMware transformation workstream while actively participating in migration and delivery activities within a large-scale enterprise environment. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and consultancy partners to ensure a successful transition to the future-state infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of VMware infrastructure solutions.
- Manage the migration of core infrastructure platforms, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Oversee VMware vSphere and ESXi architecture and optimization initiatives.
- Implement lift-and-shift migration programs for existing workloads.
- Integrate physical server infrastructure with virtual environments.
- Address network infrastructure and switching considerations during the transformation.
- Provide technical leadership throughout design, implementation, and delivery phases.
- Ensure platform stability during migration and transformation activities.
Requirements
- Expertise in VMware vSphere and ESXi architecture and design.
- Proven experience in delivering large-scale VMware transformation programs.
- Hands-on implementation and delivery experience in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of datacentre transformation and infrastructure modernization.
- Knowledge of physical server infrastructure and integration.
- Understanding of enterprise networking and switching principles.
- Proven ability to engage with stakeholders and communicate effectively.
- Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX/NSX-T, and hybrid cloud environments is desirable.
