Overview

The Service Designer will play a pivotal role in leading end-to-end service design for complex public sector transformation programs. Working in a hybrid capacity, they will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to apply GDS principles, conduct user research, and develop vital service artifacts. This position requires immediate availability and involves engaging with senior stakeholders to drive service improvements and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end service design across public sector transformation programmes.
  • Apply GDS Service Standards and user-centred design principles.
  • Conduct and oversee user research to inform design decisions.
  • Develop service blueprints, user journeys, and operating models.
  • Identify and resolve challenges related to policy, process, technology, and governance.
  • Facilitate workshops and co-design sessions with various stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with agile teams including product, policy, and technical leads.
  • Mentor junior designers and promote best practices in service design.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Service Designer with a focus on public sector projects.
  • Strong familiarity with GDS Service Standards and user-centred design principles.
  • Experience in conducting user research and translating insights into design solutions.
  • Proficiency in developing service blueprints and user journeys.
  • Ability to engage with and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary agile teams.
  • Active SC Clearance preferred or required.
  • Ability to start within 2 weeks of securing the position.
