Overview
The Site Manager will oversee the daily operations of high voltage transmission and substation projects, ensuring the effective delivery of major Transmission & Distribution initiatives across Scotland. This role involves close collaboration with the Project Manager, subcontractors, and various engineering teams to maintain safety, quality, efficiency, and adherence to project timelines throughout the construction phases.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day construction activities on high voltage transmission and substation projects up to 400kV.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, direct labour, and multidisciplinary site teams.
- Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, project programmes, and engineering standards.
- Lead site Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance.
- Deliver daily briefings, toolbox talks, and maintain a strong safety culture.
- Work closely with Project and Construction Managers and client representatives to achieve milestones.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and resolve site issues.
- Complete and maintain all site documentation and support testing through to project handover.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager delivering Transmission & Distribution or substation projects up to 400kV.
- Previous work experience with SSEN, SP Energy Networks, National Grid, DNO, ICP or EPC projects.
- Strong understanding of high voltage substation construction processes.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors in construction environments.
- In-depth knowledge of HSEQ procedures and safe systems of work.
- Valid SMSTS and CSCS certifications.
- National Grid Person, SR163, BESC, or equivalent transmission competencies are advantageous.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
