Overview

We are seeking a SolarWinds Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of monitoring solutions within a classified Defence supply chain environment. This is a hands-on engineering role that requires strong IT Operations experience and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams in secure environments. The contractor will primarily work onsite and will focus on designing and optimizing SolarWinds platforms for effective monitoring across infrastructure and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of SolarWinds platforms including Orion, NPM, SAM, and NTA.
  • Configure and maintain end-to-end monitoring solutions across infrastructure, networks, and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance, availability, and monitoring issues.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and reporting aligned to operational requirements.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance visibility, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with IT Operations, Network, and Security teams in a highly regulated environment.
  • Ensure all solutions comply with Defence and classified environment standards.
  • Produce documentation and support knowledge transfer and operational handover.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a SolarWinds SME or Engineer.
  • Strong technical expertise with SolarWinds Orion Platform, NPM, SAM, and NTA.
  • Experience working in IT Operations environments, especially within Defence or secure sectors.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across network, server, and application layers.
  • Experience working in security-cleared or classified environments.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite in a secure location.
  • Desirable: Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python).
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and service management practices.
